My Favorite Treadmill Workout

Back by popular demand … I am sharing another one of my favorite treadmill workouts. I know many of you have experienced the same love – hate feeling I have for these workouts.

I know they are hard.

I know they are awful.

I know they make your sweat A LOT!

But then when you are done and you get to experience that “worth it” feeling.

I like to do this particular workout on Monday morning. I take off on Sunday’s so my legs typically feel good on Monday and I am ready for a good hard run. This one helps me focus more on pushing speed while also focusing on short distances.

800 + 400 Treadmill workout:

5 min slow jog warm up (Start at 5.0 speed and by the end of the 5 minutes try to be at 7.0 speed)

1 min prep  (Step off the treadmill and get yourself set)

Run a 1/2 mile as fast as you can — GOAL: Keep the speed at 8.6 or higher the entire time (8.6-9.3)

Walk 2 min.

Repeat 4 Times

Run a 1/4 mile as fast as you can — GOAL: Keep the speed at 9.0 or higher the entire time (9.0-10.0)

Walk 90 seconds

Repeat 4 Times

5 min cool down walk
